The Director-General of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, has asked Assembly Members and those within the local governance bracket to see themselves as bedrock of national development.
According to him, it is when such premium is placed among the local governance system that Assembly Members would offer their best.
‘’Let us see ourselves as Assembly Members and others in local governance as the people who can champion the development that the people yearn for,’’ he said.
Nana Agyemang-Prempeh was delivering a keynote address at five-day training for all Assembly Members of the Ahafo Ano North Assembly.
The training is themed; ‘’Next Generation Leadership’’ and organized by the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), among others with sponsorship coming from the Agyemang-Prempeh Foundation.
The training seeks to equip the assembly members with the requisite knowledge and information to help them function and deliver at their mandate for their respective electoral areas.
He admonished the participants to take the training seriously and recounted the role of Assembly Members in national development.
‘’Local governance is indeed the bedrock of development for every growing nation and we must take [it] with all the attention it needs,’’ he said.
Present at the opening ceremony was the Director of ILGS, Dr. Nicholas Aworwi, the General Secretary of NALAG, Mr. Kokro Amankwa, the Registrar of ILGS Mr. David Osei-Wusu , the Presiding Member of the Ahafo Ano North Assembly, Mr. Thomas Forkuo and other facilitators from the institution.
