The Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is embarking on operation ‘Wear Your Nose Mask’ exercise, as part of his personal efforts to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
The minister’s position was informed by the rise in the cases of COVID-19 in recent times.
Per the Ghana Health Service (GHS) update, Ghana has over 13,000 new cases of the deadly bug.
According to Dr. Prempeh, who is a Medical Doctor, the wearing of nose masks was one of the surest means of checking the spread of the virus.
“The rate at which COVID-19 is spreading in Ghana is alarming, so I decided to embark on the ‘Wear Your Mask’ campaign to help check the spread,” he stressed.
He said: “I was motivated by the fact that social distancing would be broken because of the yuletide and the joy that comes with it, to educate the public on the use of nose mask.’’
The minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region, is COVID-19 Ambassador, and, has constantly been educating the public on how deadly the virus could be.
He was one of the few public officials who went public after contracting the virus in 2020.
He was applauded by Ghanaians because of the manner he went on various media platforms to educate the populace about the virus.
