The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, will today meet the press for update on the education sector, following President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s announcement of the partial easing of Covid-19 restrictions last Sunday.
The minister is expected to expatiate on the steps announced by the President on how final year students at the University, Senior High School (SHS) and Junior High School (JHS) levels are to return to school, starting from June 15, 2020.
Apart from that, second year SHS students on the Gold Track are to report to school on June 22, 2020.
The minister’s encounter with the media is to tell Ghanaians of various steps that the ministry is embarking on to ensure smooth re-opening of schools for the finalists.
As part of measures to ensure the safety of students, President Akufo-Addo announced that all schools, both public and private, will be fumigated before they are re-opened.
In addition to that, all students, teachers and ancillary staff in various schools will be provided with reusable face masks.
The education minister will give an update on process to fumigate schools and how the face masks will be procured.
