The otherwise peaceful atmosphere in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti Region has become chaotic ever since Mr. John Kumah decided to contest to become the Parliamentary candidate for the party, going into Election 2020.
Reports emanating from the area points to the fact that NPP members, especially polling station executives, who are the automatic kingmakers who are not in support of Mr. Kumah’s bid, are seen as ‘enemies’ in the Ejisu NPP.
There are allegations of inducement in order to have majority of the polling station executives sway to the side of Mr Kumah, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurial and Innovation (NEIP).
The Ejisu NPP in recent times is in the news for the wrong reasons. In the past, Ejisu NPP was only noted for hard work towards electoral victory.
One Nana Osei Bonsu, for instance, has raised issues on how the contest to become the MP for the area should not become a do-and-die affair.
Nana Bonsu was reported to have been arrested for allegedly forging the signature of Mr. Kumah, something he (Nana Bonsu) later said was not true.
There are pointers that NPP persons within the area are not happy but are scared to talk about events because of fear that supporters of Mr. Kumah would come after them.
The Inquisitor has been informed that the Ashanti Regional NPP has been informed of the rough times prevailing at Ejisu, because of Mr. Kumah’s attempt to become the Parliamentary candidate for the area.
There are concerns that the otherwise peaceful constituency will experience skirmishes which have never been witnessed in the internal affairs of the NPP in the area.
