The Konadu Yiadom Park at Ashanti New Town (Ash Town) in Kumasi, noted for holding funerals and other public events, is not for sale.
Checks by The Inquisitor have confirmed a multi-purpose AstroTurf will be constructed on the park.
The project will be financed by Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) who has the backing of the Manhyia Palace.
It is therefore disingenuous for anyone to suggest that Konadu Yiadom Park is up for sale as the anti-development agents are peddling in Kumasi.
The project will be handled by the company that built the Asokwa AstroTurf project that has become the talk of Kumasi.
The project is expected to start in few weeks’ time as all the pre-construction processes have been fully completed.
The GNPC agreed to finance the project after the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, lobbied the nation’s oil exploration regulator.
The MP did the lobbying with full backing and support from the Manhyia Palace.
It is instructive to know Konadu Yiadom Park is one of the sites in Kumasi that are dear to the heart of the Manhyia, and it would be incongruous for anyone to suggest that someone could sell the park.Fact-Check!
