Former Finance Minister under late President John Atta-Mills, Dr Kwabena Duffour, is set to give another talk on Ghana’s economy again next week.
The programme under auspices of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) will have the one-time Bank of Ghana (BoG) governor, as the main speaker.
It comes few months after the Institute organized a similar forum in September this year.
In that talk, Dr Duffour claimed Ghana’s economy which he once managed was in “crisis”.
“The narrative should change immediately otherwise our children will not forgive us. Our natural resources endowment can change this country, if we decide to use them efficiently and honestly, we are not doing that.
We cannot disagree that Ghana is a very wealthy nation but Ghanains are poor, that’s where the problem is. Why are we are poor but we are sitting on wealth, so what do we do”? he quizzed at that programme.
The programme slated for Monday November 29, 2021 is themed “The Ghanaian dream: transforming the economy through job creation and opportunities for all”.
Next week’s programme which will be held at Palace Hotel between 10-12pm in Accra. is on the heels of the presentation of 2022 budget statement by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
