The Achimota Police, together with their counterparts in Akim Oda, has arrested three suspects who duped hundreds of people , making them believe that they will secure jobs for them at the Forestry Commission. The suspects were sent to the Amasaman Circuit where Her Lordship Justice Marful – Sau, the presiding judge, remanded them in custody, to appear before her again on 26th May, 2020.
The three suspects, Prince Adam Senahia, 20; Olongo Philip, 19 and 17 – year old minor were arrested in Akim Oda, following intelligence reports and after months on investigations by the Achimota Police.
The suspects used the name of the Executive Director of the Forest Services Division of Forestry Commission, Mr. Oppon Sasu, to collect monies ranging from GHC2,000 – GHC4,000 form unsuspecting job seekers, which were paid into various mobile money accounts.
The job seekers were then told to come for non – existent interviews at scheduled dates at the Forestry Commission Head Office in Accra, even on holidays.
Speaking to the Corporate Affairs & Media Relations Manager, Mrs. Joyce Ofori Kwafo, after the court proceedings, she expressed her satisfaction at the breakthrough by the Achimota Police and expressed the hope that the law will take its course. She said the image of the Commission has been dragged in the mud during all the times that the unsuspecting job seekers were thronging the premises of the Commission on almost daily basis, to attend “fake interviews” and was relieved that everything will come to an end.
Mrs. Ofori Kwafo used the opportunity to warn the general public to be wary of people who promise to offer them jobs after paying monies to them and said Forestry Commission does not take money before employing people. Also, the Commission does not use middlemen to recruit staff.3 Busted For Using
